Q. What the helll is a skimboard? How do you do it?
A. First off. that is 2 questions and not one so I shoul dhave actually put Q's. ans A's. But thats neither here nor there. Ok check out the first picture for what a skimboard looks like. Now there are 2 types of skimboarding out there. Inland, and Beach skimming. |

Inland Skimming
For inland skimming is much easier to learn but hard as hell to master. You simply through the board down across a thin film of water (the thinner the water the faster, but if it is two thin your not gonna have a good time). Then attepmt to run onto the board while it is gliding. Once you do this you will have successfully skimmed acros the water. But there are crazy tricks and shit too that are really hard to do.

Beach Skimming
On a beach you can still inland skim but there is much more oppritunity for a kick ass time. First off just doing flat (inland) tricks on a beach is harder because the very small waves pulll you into the ocean. But when skimming the beach it is possible to ride waves. It is really really tough though. You must throw the board into the ocean and again run onto it. You need a lost of speed to be able to skim the deeper waters but if you get to a wave at the right time you can turn around and ride it back to shore. I have never been able to do this, I got on top of a wave twice but i got too excited and I forgot to turn the board. |

Inland wipeout
This has never actually happened to me. This guy was grinding up a board and ran out of water before he made it, then Inertia took place. He ends up being ok though.

Beach Wipeout
I've doen this pleanty of times. It hurts a lot more than you think, especially when there are a bunch of little borken pieces of shells on the sand. They can cut you pretty bad. |
